You Can Help Conquer the Pandemic and Feed Hundreds of Families During This Defining Moment !

Detroit Friendship House is a food pantry that has worked to alleviate hunger in the Hamtramck community for 90 years. Most of our families are minimum-wage earners who are likely to be the first to lose their jobs. We are struggling, like so many innocent victims of the pandemic, to remain open. Our food sources are sporadic, some staff is furloughed, donations are decreasing, we had to cancel our annual fundraising event (called Fowling For Food), and the number of clients we are serving continues to increase (about 30-35%). Because our staff is so few, we rely heavily on volunteers. We are worried about how long they will continue risking their own health with zero compensation.

Still, we distributed over 56,500 pounds of food in March. We modified our process to be a walk-up/drive-up system, so everyone can be as safe as possible. And of course, we are all wearing masks and gloves.
